"Working well thanks to great customer service."
I have had a Sonos speaker since I first bought a Playbar about seven years ago and I now have two Sonos Ones (as surrounds), an Arc, a Play:1 and a Move. Most recently I have had a few issues with the audio cutting out and contrary to what many people are saying here in their reviews, the customer service has been very good. I have had a number of (some over an hour long) calls with various people all of whom have tried their best to sort the issue for me. Home WiFi is most often at fault in cases like mine and I think that’s what people writing here are not allowing for. I have to say it was quite stressful for a while when the system wasn’t working; when it’s working it’s great, but when it isn’t it’s constant, annoying and frustrating. But, the technical advice and support given to me over the phone helped me to understand the issues involved myself and ultimately to solve them. The only negative might be to say that everyone’s home WiFi setup is unique, so perhaps Sonos is a system that is just unable to allow for all scenarios if you’re not as tenacious as me when it comes to getting something like this working; but for me, even with my WiFi mesh setup, at the moment it’s working well and as I would expect it to.

"Happy overall"
Ouch. Wasn't expecting so many scathing reviews for Sonos.

I own a Beam, Play:1, Play:5, Sonos One SL x 2.

I've set up the Beam as a surround with my TV and it sound amazing to my ears. Absolutely love it. The Play:1 has been our kitchen speaker for years and gets used daily. The Play:5 has had less use and is now up for sale since it is incompatible with the new S2 app.

When I bought the Beam I used the 30% discount on the recycle program for the Play:5 to bring the price down and I'll be selling the Play:5 for around £100.

To me, this is a good compromise. Meaning the net spend on the Beam is about £180.

So, incompatible speakers aren't all bad. There's still plenty of resale value in them coupled with the 30% discount on a new unit.

I do get fairly frequent controller drop outs, for perhaps a minute at a time and it is inconvenient. This doesn't affect playback, only my ability to select what is playing. This appears to be a widespread issue.

They are not cheap but quality is really good and the wireless options are amazing along with the setup.
